![]() ![]() ![]() I've made some measurements with a SQM in a dark, dark room of tablet screen brightnesses with and without a red film screen. From my urban backyard, I don't worry about it but from sky's in the 21+ mpsas range, where I'm hunting down small, faint galaxies, I am very careful. I don't know how dark your skies are or what you're looking at but I can easily see the light leak from standard screens when I'm using a tablet or phone as well as when others are using them. To me, this is one of those, yes, on paper and the lab AMOLED should be favorable, but in the real world I just don't see an advantage. ![]() At night, under the stars, once I get either one adjusted for use in dark mode, I have never seen any difference in my night vision to favor one over the other. Honestly, owning and having owned and used both Samsung AMOLED and Apple displays, from phones to 10" tablet displays, I personally think we make too much of this. It helps that I keep it oriented so that there is no unobstructed line of sight between the screen and anyone else. Even without the film, none of them even knew that I had the tablet, so I'll call that a success. ![]() I've asked them about the tablet, and whether or not it affects them. At one event, I am set up near to a group of about 4 or 5 large (24" and bigger) Dobs with highly skilled and accomplished visual astronomers. I have experimented with and without the red film at star parties. If I am doing visual astronomy, then I have a piece of the Red Eyes Xtra Dark cling that works great. If I am imaging, and not trying to get my eyes as dark adapted as possible, then I use it at its dimmest setting and without a red film. I also run SkySafari on it, but does have LCD light leak. I also have an iPad Mini that is several years old. I run SkySafari on it and it dims down so far that even dark adapted, I cannot read it. I have an iPhone Xs Max and it has an OLED display. The rumor is that Apple is planning on releasing a version of the iPad Pro in the next year or two that has a screen that is an OLED variant.Īs for iPhones, it's already been mentioned that the top models have had OLED screens for a while now. The are no iPads with OLED/AMOLED screens. ![]()

The tech specs at Magewell's site claim USB 3.0 performance is 300-350 MB/s, but they have an asterisk next to that amount, and I don't see any details at the bottom concerning what they mean (although that's probably the theoretical maximum that will never be achieved if I had to guess). So that's the real-world performance to expect using USB 3.0. Of course like you said, you want to "max out your slot's potential", but I have new Skylake PC and an external SSD in an enclosure I use to back up my files, and with the USB overhead "tax", the USB transfer speed averages around 240 - 270 MB/s if I remember correctly (I haven't had to do a back-up in a few months). I know the Gigabyte USB 3.1 expansion card says it's backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, but I'm not sure if you will experience any issues with that and the Magewell capture device. I don't think using anything other than a USB 3.0 expansion card will matter for performance. That USB capture device you linked to supports USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s pretty expensive, but Apple’s Magic Trackpad avoids the mistakes that it tends to make with its mice. Prices vary a lot online, though, so it’s worth shopping around before buying. MX Master 3 For Business, which costs around £130, but includes a special ‘Bolt’ USB transmitter that provides super-strong security features for business users. And, just recently, Logitech launched the MX Master 3 For Mac, which is the same price but only has Bluetooth connectivity, and a more Mac-like Space Grey colour scheme. However, Logitech has added two other models since then, including the This costs £119.99, and is still the model that we’d recommend for most users, as it includes both Bluetooth and a small USB wireless transmitter that provides greater security and reliability than Bluetooth. The original version (which we are looking at here), was launched in 2019 and is simply called the MX Master 3. Battery life is good too, at around two months – twice that of Apple’s Magic Mouse or Trackpad. ![]() There’s also a second wheel on the side, which allows you to scroll horizontally – which is great for photo-editing and graphics work – and two more buttons that can be programmed using the Options app. It has the usual left/right buttons and a scroll wheel, but the scroll-wheel works in two different modes, with a high-speed mode for zooming through long documents and web pages, as well as a slower mode that provides greater precision and tactile feedback. The mouse has a smoothly curved surface that fits the palm of the hand very well, along with a thumb-rest for extra comfort. All three versions have the same basic design – which is for right-handed users only, unfortunately – so make sure you choose the correct model before pressing the Buy button. Mind you, its MX range of mice are also very well designed, with no less than three versions of the current MX Master 3 now available. Logitech therefore takes top spot in this review of best mice for the Mac, simply by virtue of the fact that it’s one of the few manufacturers that includes a proper Mac version of its Options app for its mice (and keyboards too). Most conventional two-button mice will work with a Mac without needing any additional software, but more advanced mice that have additional buttons and controls do need an app that will allow you to program those extra buttons to work the way that you want. ![]() ![]() Album ini dirilis pada tanggal 11 Oktober 2011.
